the stick would light up for the breifest moment when the usb was plugged in, then die out, and become completely unresponsive. since the x52 was originally designed to run under XP i figured that this would be a good test. before i gave up on it however, i pulled out my old computer, and hooked it up (running windows XP). i uninstalled and reinstalled, followed numerous help guides, faqs, and even called saitek customer support.

i searched online everywhere and downloaded updated drivers from saitek's site, specifically for windows 7, 64bit. the green power LED in the bottom right of the joystick base was lit, meaning that it was not the ps2 cable that connects it to the throttle malfunctioning. the throttle lit up just fine, but the joystick lit up for a brief second, then went dark.

I expected to be able to plug it in, and have it run as normal. but dear friends at hardlight, it was a neccessary one, for i know he would tell me im just not doing it right otherwise****** (my old one was lost or possibly stolen by a friend during a move) ******this is a lie. I have had one installed on the computer I am using now, but needed to get another one.

I run windows 7 64 bit, and even though the saitek x52 has problems for some, i have never had a problem running one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but my product is defective. im almost positive this is software/driver related, could someone please help me? all other info ive seen is about the throttle and mfd not working, not the joystick. i am on a laptop, and use a wireless mouse. there are a lot of other devices i dont recognize there, but i dont want to mess anything up. i think this has to do with windows using the wrong drivers, but ive checked the device info and seen the saitek hid, and saitek usb, both are using the right drivers. I know its not the cable, because the power button is on, and for a moment, when plugged in, the lights on the stick light up just fine(when the usb is plugged in) then after the windows "dink" sound it makes when a device is plugged in or removed, the lights go off, and the joystick doesnt function. the problem i have is that the throttle and mfd function normally, but the joystick does not register at all. ive installed from the disc, and even downloaded the updated drivers. Its been 5 days, with no response, and i would like to see if someone here knows whats going on. Here is the letter i sent to the guy i bought it from, AND saitek. if so, check all the way at the bottom, there is a cash reward if you can successfully resolve my problem (provided its not hardware related). I know that a lot of people here use the saitek x52, and maybe you can help me.

i have heard plenty of horror stories about windows 7 64 bit and saitek products, but almost all of them are due to people not knowing what they are doing. apparently, neither does the jerkoff i bought it from. I bought a refurbished x52, and saitek has almost NO customer support. The FreeSpace Universe Reference Project.
